This handmade wooden photo lamp features four custom lithophane panels, each created from a photograph supplied by you. When the lamp is switched off, the pictures appear as subtle sculpted white reliefs. Switch on the internal light and the photographs emerge through light and shadow, creating an atmospheric display of the people, pets and memories that matter most.

Each lamp is made to order by Hillcraft using a laser-cut wooden frame, four custom resin photo panels and a USB-powered LED light with an inline switch.

Because natural wood absorbs stain differently, the precise colour and grain will vary slightly from one lamp to another.

How to order

1. Select your preferred wood-stain finish.
2. Upload the four photographs you would like to feature.
3. Add any important positioning or cropping instructions.
4. Each image will be carefully prepared and converted into a sculpted lithophane panel.
5. Your lamp will then be printed, finished, assembled and tested before dispatch.

Choosing your photographs

Clear, bright photographs with a recognisable main subject produce the strongest illuminated results. Portraits, family photographs, wedding pictures, children, pets and memorial photographs are all suitable.

• Upload four clear, high-resolution photographs
• Portrait or vertically framed pictures work best
• Choose well-lit images with good contrast
• Avoid very dark, blurry or heavily filtered photographs
• Images with clearly visible faces generally produce the best detail
• Keep important subjects away from the extreme edges where possible

The panels use a tall portrait format, so some cropping may be required. Landscape photographs can still be used, but parts of the original image may need to be removed to fit the panel.

Materials and construction

The frame is made from precision laser-cut plywood, individually stained, assembled and finished by hand. The photographs are reproduced as three-dimensional translucent resin panels rather than being printed directly onto the surface.

Different thicknesses within each panel allow varying amounts of light to pass through, producing the highlights and shadows that reveal the photograph when illuminated.

Lighting and power

A suitable low-voltage USB LED light with an inline switch is included. The exact make or model may vary depending on availability, but every lamp will be supplied with an appropriately sized low-heat USB light.

A USB wall plug is not included. The lamp can be powered using a compatible USB wall adaptor, power bank, computer USB port or similar 5V USB power source.

Important safety information

This lamp is intended for indoor decorative use only. Use only the supplied USB LED light or a suitable low-heat LED alternative.

Never place candles, incandescent bulbs or other heat-producing light sources inside the lamp.

Handmade character

Every lamp is individually made to order. Natural variations in wood grain, stain colour, engraving tone and construction are part of its handmade character.

Fine relief layers will be visible on the white photograph panels when the lamp is switched off. These changing depths are what create the tonal detail of the illuminated image.

The final result will also depend on the clarity, lighting, resolution and contrast of the photographs supplied.
